Apple to Update iPad Mini Processor
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is set to update the processor in its iPad Mini. The updated version is expected to begin shipping by the end of 2023 or the first half of 2024.
New iPad Mini Design
The iPad Mini received a new design at the end of 2021 after remaining largely unchanged since its introduction in 2012. The 8.3-inch tablet sits between Apple's largest iPhone (the 6.7-inch Pro Max) and the 10th-gen iPad (10.9 inch) in terms of size. It currently runs on an A15 Bionic chip and includes a USB-C port and the option for 5G connectivity.
Upcoming Processor
According to Kuo, the new processor will be the main selling point of the updated iPad Mini. It is unclear at this time which processor will be used, but options could include the A16 inherited from the iPhone 14 Pro or an M-series chip similar to those used in the iPad Air and iPad Pro. We may learn more about the updated iPad Mini as early as the fall, when Apple typically announces its pre-holiday hardware lineup.
